Connecting E-commerce Platforms
Overview
The E-commerce Connections tab lets you connect your online store platforms to StartGlobal for automatic transaction and sales data syncing. Connected stores provide your bookkeeper with the data needed to maintain accurate books and prepare your tax filings. You can connect multiple platforms and manage each connection from a single dashboard.
Before You Begin
- You must have an active StartGlobal account with a registered company.
- Have your e-commerce platform credentials ready (e.g., Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, or other supported platforms).
- Navigate to Accounting in your dashboard sidebar.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Open the E-commerce Connections tab.
What to do: Click Accounting in the sidebar, then select the E-commerce Connections tab.
What you will seeA page with the header "Connected Stores" and the subtitle "Manage your e-commerce platform connections". If no stores are connected yet, you will see an empty state message: "No payment links yet" with a button to connect your first store.
-
Start connecting a new store.
What to do: Click the Connect Store button (or the connect button in the empty state).
What you will seeA selection interface showing the supported e-commerce platforms.
-
Select your platform and authorize.
What to do: Choose your e-commerce platform from the list and follow the authorization flow. This typically involves logging into your store's admin panel and granting StartGlobal permission to access your sales data.
What you will seeA redirect to your platform's authorization page, then back to StartGlobal once authorized.
-
Confirm the connection.
What to do: After authorization, return to the E-commerce Connections tab.
What you will seeA toast notification appears: "Your store has been connected and authorized successfully!" Your store now appears as a platform card with its sync status displayed.
-
Monitor sync status.
What to do: Check the platform card for your connected store to see its current sync status.
What you will seeA status indicator showing whether data is actively syncing or fully up to date.
-
Disconnect a store (if needed).
What to do: Locate the store you want to disconnect on the platform card and use the disconnect option.
What you will seeA toast notification appears: "Store disconnected successfully." The platform card is removed from the Connected Stores list.
What Happens Next
- Once your e-commerce platform is connected, sales data and transactions begin syncing automatically.
- This data flows into your bookkeeping records and supports your tax filing process.
- Your bookkeeper can view the imported data alongside your bank transactions for a complete financial picture.
- Keep the connection active for continuous syncing.
