Overview

If your business has lost its good standing with the state due to missed compliance obligations, you will need to go through the reinstatement process. Reinstatement restores your business to active, good standing status so you can continue operating legally. This guide walks you through the reinstatement payment flow in the StartGlobal portal.

Before You Begin

Before You Begin
  • Your business status must be showing as Canceled (red) or Inactive on the compliance dashboard, indicating that the state has administratively dissolved or revoked your business.
  • You must be logged in to the StartGlobal client portal.
  • Have a valid payment method (credit or debit card) ready. The reinstatement fee can be substantial as it includes back payments and state penalties.
  • Understand that reinstatement fees cover multiple items including overdue services and state-imposed charges.

1. Navigate to the Compliance Dashboard

  1. What to do: Click "Compliance" in the left sidebar navigation.

  2. What you will see

Your Business Status Card showing a red "Canceled" badge, indicating your business is no longer in good standing.

2. Locate the Reinstatement Section

  1. What to do: Look for the reinstatement card on the Compliance Summary tab.

  2. What you will see

A card with the title "Let's Reinstate your Business to Good standing!" along with a detailed fee breakdown.

3. Review the Fee Breakdown

  1. What to do: Carefully read through each line item in the fee breakdown.

  2. What you will see

    The breakdown includes:

    • Registered Agent Charges -- The cost to re-establish your Registered Agent service.
    • State Annual Report -- Any overdue Annual Report or Franchise Tax fees.
    • Reinstatement Charges -- The state-imposed reinstatement fee.
    • Total Due Today -- The combined total of all charges.

4. Review the Subscription Recommendation (Optional)

  1. What to do: Below the fee breakdown, review the "All in one Subscription" recommendation.

  2. What you will see

A recommendation for the $149/month subscription plan that bundles all compliance services together, helping you avoid future lapses. This is optional -- you can proceed with the one-time reinstatement payment without subscribing.

5. Proceed with Payment

  1. What to do: Click the "PAY ${totalAmount}" button at the bottom of the reinstatement card.

  2. What you will see

A secure payment form where you can enter your card details.

6. Complete the Payment

  1. What to do: Enter your payment information and confirm the transaction.

  2. What you will see

A success confirmation message with a receipt for the total reinstatement amount paid.

7. Monitor the Reinstatement Progress

  1. What to do: Return to the Compliance Dashboard to track the reinstatement process.

  2. What you will see

A Filing Progress Card indicating that StartGlobal is processing your reinstatement with the state. The estimated processing time will be displayed.

What Happens Next

  • After you submit payment, StartGlobal will file the reinstatement paperwork with the state on your behalf. This includes paying any state penalties, submitting overdue Annual Reports, and re-establishing your Registered Agent service.
  • Processing times vary by state but typically take several business days to a few weeks.
  • Once the state approves the reinstatement, your Business Status Card will update from Canceled to Active (green), and all compliance service badges will be refreshed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Troubleshooting

The reinstatement card does not appear.

The reinstatement option only appears when your business status is Canceled or Inactive. If your status is At Risk, you may still be able to resolve the issue by paying overdue fees directly. See Paying Franchise Taxes and Renewing Your Registered Agent.

The total amount seems too high.

The reinstatement total includes all overdue service fees, state penalties, and reinstatement charges. Review each line item in the breakdown. Contact support if you believe there is an error.

Payment fails or times out.

Due to the higher amount, some banks may flag the transaction. Contact your bank to authorize the payment, then try again.

The reinstatement has been processing for more than two weeks.

Some states have longer processing times. Contact StartGlobal support for a status update on your filing.
