Amending a BOI Filing
Overview
If the beneficial ownership or company information reported in your original BOI filing has changed, or if you discover an error in a previously submitted report, you are required to file an amendment with FinCEN. Federal regulations require that amendments be filed within 30 days of the change. StartGlobal provides a streamlined process to submit your BOI amendment through the portal.
Before You Begin
- You must have a previously filed BOI report through StartGlobal.
- You must be logged in to the StartGlobal client portal.
- Have a valid payment method ready for the $199 amendment filing fee.
- Know the specific changes that need to be reported (new beneficial owner, change of address, ownership percentage change, correction of previously submitted information, etc.).
- Have updated identification documents ready if a new beneficial owner is being added or if an existing owner's ID has changed.
1. Navigate to the Legal Section

2. Open the BOI Filing Tab

Your previously filed BOI report status and an option to amend the filing.
3. Initiate the Amendment

The "Amend BOI Filing" screen with:
- A title: "Amend BOI Filing".
- A description explaining that you are updating a previously filed BOI report.
- The amendment filing fee of $199.
- A red notice emphasizing the 30-day filing requirement and the penalties for non-compliance.
- Two buttons at the bottom: "Cancel" and "Proceed with Amendment".
4. Review the 30-Day Requirement and Penalties

5. Proceed with the Amendment

6. Update the Relevant Information

- Adding a new beneficial owner.
- Removing a beneficial owner who no longer qualifies.
- Updating personal information (name, address, identification) for an existing owner.
- Correcting company information.

7. Review All Changes

8. Submit Payment and File the Amendment

9. Monitor the Amendment Progress

What Happens Next
- After you submit the amendment, StartGlobal will compile the updated information and file the amended BOI report with FinCEN.
- Processing typically takes 5-7 business days.
- Once accepted, the BOI Filing tab will reflect the updated filing status.
- Your original filing remains on record, and the amendment is filed as an update to it.
- If FinCEN requests additional information or clarification, StartGlobal will contact you.
