Cancelling a Shipment

Overview

If you need to cancel a pending shipment request, you can do so from the All Mails tab as long as the shipment has not yet been processed and dispatched. Cancelling a shipment returns the mail item to its previous status so you can request a new shipment to a different address or simply keep the mail at your US Mailing Address.

Before You Begin

  • You must have an active StartGlobal account with an active US Mailing Address service.
  • You must have a pending shipment request (status "Requested") that has not yet progressed to "Shipping" or "Shipped".
  • Navigate to Utilities in your dashboard sidebar.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open the All Mails tab.

    Click "Utilities" in the sidebar, then select the "All Mails" tab.

    What you will see

    A table listing all your mail items with their current statuses.

  2. Locate the shipment you want to cancel.

    Find the mail item with a "Requested" (blue) status badge that you want to cancel.

    What you will see

    The mail item row with its date, description, status, and action buttons.

  3. Initiate the cancellation.

    Click the "Delete" or cancel action button for the shipment request.

    What you will see

    A confirmation dialog appears asking you to confirm the cancellation.

  4. Confirm the cancellation.

    In the confirmation dialog, click the button to confirm that you want to cancel the shipment.

    What you will see

    A toast notification appears: "The shipment request has been canceled successfully." The mail item's status updates to "Canceled" (red) on the All Mails tab.

  5. Cancel the dialog (if you change your mind).

    Click the cancel or close button on the confirmation dialog to keep the shipment request active.

    What you will see

    The dialog closes. The shipment request remains unchanged with its "Requested" status.

What Happens Next

  • Once the shipment is canceled, the mail item remains at your US Mailing Address.
  • You can submit a new shipment request with a corrected address if needed.
  • You can also download the document digitally or leave it in your mail list.
  • The "Canceled" status on the All Mails tab confirms the cancellation was processed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Troubleshooting

Cancel button or action is not available

The shipment may have already progressed beyond the "Requested" stage. Check the status badge. If it shows "Shipping" or "Shipped", cancellation is no longer possible.

Confirmation dialog does not appear

Refresh the page and try again. Ensure your browser allows pop-ups and modals for the site.

Status does not update to "Canceled" after confirming

Refresh the All Mails tab. If the status still shows "Requested", try the cancellation again or contact support.

Accidentally canceled the wrong shipment

Submit a new shipment request for the correct mail item immediately. See the Requesting a Mail Shipment guide.
