    How Shopify fees work

Plan fee: Basic is $39, Grow $105 and Advanced $399 a month on monthly billing, with 25% off on yearly billing.

Card rate: with Shopify Payments you pay 2.9% + 30¢ per online card payment on Basic, 2.7% + 30¢ on Grow and 2.5% + 30¢ on Advanced, on the total the customer pays.

Third-party transaction fee: if you take payments through a provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow or 0.6% on Advanced, and the provider charges its own processing fee on top.

When to move up a plan

Moving from Basic to Grow saves 0.2 points on every card payment and costs $66 more a month, so it pays off at roughly $33000 a month in card sales. Try both plans in the calculator with your own volume.

    Shopify Payments outside the US

Shopify Payments is only available in some countries. Where it is not, every order goes through a third-party provider and pays the extra transaction fee, which is the single biggest reason non-US stores pay more.

A US company with a US bank account can use Shopify Payments as a US merchant, at US rates, and sell in dollars. The company has US filing obligations, so weigh the saving against that cost at your volume.

Sell as a US business, paid in dollars

Form your US LLC for $399 with all state fees included, get a federal tax number and a US business bank account, and register your seller account to the company.
